Lovely hotel staff so friendly and accommodating. Food good well worth a visit- Deborah M
We’ve stayed at the Black Horse several times. The lovely atmosphere, comfortable rooms, great food and service is always a draw. I’m sorry to say that on this occasion we were underwhelmed by Room 12, sold as a king size room. The room was clean and had a nice view, although both mornings we were woken between 7.00-7.15 by the bin men outside in the street, which I know is out of your control. Unfortunately the decor was rather dull, the furniture didn’t match with the age of the building, the bathroom was cold as the radiator didn’t work, the lighting next to shelf, which I had to use as a dressing table, was inadequate, as you were in your own shadow, the glass wardrobe door was hitting the radiator and making it difficult to open the drawers. Of the 4 towels in the room, 1 hand towel and 1 bath towel were ragged around the edge, and the pillows were lumpy and kept going under the bottom of the headboard. Such a shame the room let our stay down because everything else was excellent. The hotel was spotlessly clean, the staff in the restaurant were efficient and attentive, and the food was very good. The stay was particularly good value for money but next time I’m sorry to say we would avoid Room 12.- Carole C
We stayed one night at The Black Horse and couldn’t fault it. Our room was lovely, clean and cosy. Lovely bar area. Breakfast the next day was wonderful, just the right amount. Friendly, helpful staff. We will definitely recommend and will stay here again. - Lynda B
